Most of his professional career has been linked to biotechnology. Majority of his research in the US and Estonia has focused on virology and antiviral drug development. He defended his Ph.D. at the Univeristy of Tartu, Institute of Technology, followed by research at Icosagen Cell Factory. In 2017 he decided to do a post-doc at the Gerogia State University where he worked on respiratory viruses. After a few different roles in Estonia, he has joined the Applied Research Program at EIS which supports R&D of Estonian companies through consulting and funding.
